At its manufacturing site in Birmingham, Eaton has been investing considerable time and resource in its existing production facilities to help customers meet the demands of a wide variety of new European Union regulations.

The Energy Performance in Buildings Directive... Building Regulations Part 2... and the Measuring Instruments Directive, among others, are key drivers for the changing demands of metering solutions - particularly with the need to install automatic meter reading and data collection.

Up until now, these solutions required a custom design for each facility. Eaton's answer is to provide a comprehensive, off-the-shelf range of innovative solutions for distribution and panelboards.

Standard, pre-assembled designs can now be catalogue selected for single as well as 3-phase MCB boards and MCCB panelboards.

Here we're looking at the production of a "smart" design, split meterpack for 3-phase MCB type B boards.

Pre-wiring of blocks and cable looms make installation easier - as well as saving time and labour costs.

Eaton's innovative, fully-assembled design splits the incoming supply into two channels - power and lighting - with independent monitoring of each channel, together with total values. The board on the production line here features a unique split busbar, integrating 2 ct blocks that match the main busbar profile.

And with thorough testing on an automatic test-bed before final assembly, Eaton's off-the-shelf meterpacks finally put the lid on the need to create and check custom solutions for every application.
